Yaseen Anwer is a polyglot Indian poet. He founded 'Kaafiya in the year 2015, and is Festival Director for the same. He is the Founder of Poets Corner Group, conceptualized in the year 2011, and Co-founder of Delhi Poetry Festival, in the year 2013.

He is an engineering drop out by choice. Felicitated with "Young Poet Award 2012" by the Indian Poetry Society, his translated work can be found and read in Chinese, Portuguese, Hindi, Persian and a few other languages. Gouri Chugh - Poet

I have been active in the field of school education for the past 15 years. I have worked with a variety of institutions, including government agencies, NGOs, publishing houses and e-learning companies, in different capacities. I have also been associated with a heritage walk group, 'Delhi By Foot', for designing their educational activities to teach History to children.

I have keen interest in Urdu poetry. Some of my Urdu poems (nazms) have been published in an anthology of poems of 20 women poets from India and Pakistan, titled "Raushniyan.

Narendra Kumar Mourya - Journalist

Narendra Maurya is a retired journalist, who has worked extensively with and for children. He has conducted various writing workshops for children, and worked as a 'Kathavaachak' for National Book Trust. He also worked with UNICEF as a researcher on children's education. Amit Singh - Professor

Dr. Amit Singh teaches English at Ambedkar University Delhi, India. He has a PhD from Centre for English Studies, School of Languages, Literatures and Culture Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. His areas of interest comprise folklore, oral traditions, poetics and art of poetry, spatiality, and epics. He is also interested in world literatures, diaspora studies, marginal literatures, and theory and criticism. He offers courses based on these areas to undergraduates, postgraduates, and PhD scholars.

Dr. Singh attempts to inspire students with zeal for creative writing through pedagogical experiments and collaboration with teachers, mentors, and practitioners in the field. In 2018, he organized a Creative Writing Workshop for students in collaboration with Indiana University, Bloomington, USA. This workshop is to be held again on 16 December 2019.

Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty - Journalist, Writer

Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty is a Delhi-based journalist, who covers the Northeast for the news website The Wire. Born in Assam, she graduated from Gauhati University in 1995 and picked up her post graduate degree in English literature from Jamia Millia Islamia.

She began her journey in journalism in 1996 with the United News of India (UNI) before moving to The Hindu where she wrote features on varied subjects for nearly 15 years.

Among other awards and fellowships, she is a winner of the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for feature writing in 2017.

Her first book of non-fiction ""Assam: The Accord, the Discord"" is published by Penguin ebury Press in August 2019. Her English translation of Sahitya Akademi awarded Assamese writer Rita Chowdhury's novel ""Mayabritta"" is slated for publication in 2020.

Apsara Iyengar - Writer, Director, Actor

Apsara Iyengar is a Writer, Director, Actor having worked on more than 10 productions since 2012. She is the founder of Applause Vadodara, theatre group. She has been a jury and mentor for various theatre initiatives in schools and colleges, and has facilitated performances at national festivals such as Kalaghoda Arts Festival, Mumbai, Bharat Rang Mahotsav, NSD Delhi and Sayaji Literature festival, Vadodara, to name a few. Apsara is a graduate of Science and a post graduate in audio-programme production with experience in Digital media, Short Film screening and Radio production. She is also a voice over artist for more than 11 years. She has been interviewed on All India Radio, interviewed and featured in press notes and print media such DNA, Times of India, Gujarat Samachar, Divya Bhaskar, Jodhpur Patrika, and others. Suverchala Kashyap is an accomplished educationist, TV anchor and journalist. She has a versatile background, with a dual masters degree in botany and education, topped with a diploma in journalism and communication. She has been instrumental in defining a large part of the career goals of several students at school and university levels. She was the founder principal of a reputed school in Vadodara, having taken it to national and international heights. She is a founder partner & CEO of Intelliscape EdVentures, an educational firm. She has recently started her own venture called Parivartan: SK’s transformational Hub. She is currently also the coordinator for Vie, an NGO based in Berlin, Germany. She is also working closely with Daksh Autism Services, Bangalore, as their Gujarat counterpart and advisor. She has worked with the teachers of a school for blind children, training and redesigning their academic plan. Gunjan Gupta - Theatre Artist

I am versatile and innovative and have been working in the field of Theatre in Education for 14 years. Currently, I work with Barefoot Theatre Company as an Actor and an Administrator. My quest always has been to be able to experience and understand various theatrical techniques to develop my skills as a performer and to understand how these practices can facilitate learning amongst students. I also teach at Amity University, Noida.

I have been pursuing theatre since school and some of my performances like, ‘Songs from Snakes’ ‘Atirikta Nahi’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Arcus’ have been staged at renowned theatres like India Habitat Center, Prithvi theatre, TATA theatre, Kamani Auditorium, Max Mueller Bhavan, Instituto Cervantes, Barefoot Theatre space and in Calcutta.

I have explored Puppetry in Bunraku Style with Katkatha Puppet Arts, Clowning, Impro, material theatre, theatre making for young audience, Viewpoints by Anna Bogart; breathe work with Adishakti, Kallaripayattu, Tai chi, Aikido etc.

Rashmi Narzary - Editor

A Sahitya Akademi Awardee for Children’s Literature (English), 2016 for my book “His Share of Sky”, I am otherwise a Communication Skills Consultant and freelance editor, when I am not looking after my two kids and bureaucrat husband.

A graduation in Economics and a post graduation in Human Resource Management could in no way dampen my passion for writing. Thus was published WINGS, my first book, in the year 2005, which is a collection of short stories. Looking Beyond, my second book, was released in 2006. His Share of Sky (2012) is my third and Mosaic (2016), a collection of short stories, is my latest book.

TRANSLATION EXPERIENCE

I have translated quite a few of Dr. Bhabendra Nath Saikia’s works from Assamese to English, of which my two most memorable and utterly challenging works were ‘SHRINKHOL’ (The Chain) and Xanto Xisto, Hristo Pusto, Moha Dusto (Calm and Quiet, Fat and Robust, Very Mischievious!). The first was a Sahitya Akademi Award winning literary novel and the second was a radio play of the 70’s, in Assamese. The second work involved transcreating the play into English prose. I did these translations for the Ebook project, Nirvana Sutra.

Savi Sarin - Raconteur, Educator

In her four decades of existence, Savi has gathered a lot of impressive degrees and certificates from hallowed portals. Like the ones in Zoology Hons. from Delhi University, second master’s degree, in Education from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and many more. Nonetheless, she has collected more intangible yet rich, experiences and narratives, than tangible documents.

A mother, educator, raconteur ( Katha Vachak, as she calls herself), nature lover and a dreamer, Savi dreams to see children back where they belong. Out in open, amidst nature, breathing fresh air. With the help of Mother Nature, if she is ever able to create such a space for children, she would call it SLOW, Space for Learning Organically and growing Wild. A seeker who has been seeking answers to existential questions, her quest for real education is an ongoing one.

Savi has varied passions. A multipotentialite, she thrives on learning, exploring and mastering new skills. Weaving different ideas together in creative ways through stories is her forte. In her pursuit for creative ways of learning and teaching she founded Weave A Tale ( a springboard for ideas, creativity and imagination), a decade ago. Besides Yoga, Adhyayan, Lekhan ( writing), Nritya, Sangeet and Abhinaya there is another kala ( skill) that piques her interest and that is Pak kala (cooking). Just like herself and her cooking, her stories are SLOW too. With dash of various rasas , they are Served with Love, are Organic and Warm.

Sattyakee D'com Bhuyan - Theatre Director

A Philomath who truly loves the art, Sattyakee D’com Bhuyan is known for his extensive experience in all the areas of Theatre Production. A TedX speaker, he is also the founder director of the leading Theatre Group “D’Passion Collective.” He has, in fact, proven his creative excellence, especially on the stage, since an early age, and with more than 25 stellar productions under his belt. One of the first professional English anchors of the region, he has acted and directed numerous plays and short films. Still one of the youngest in the field of direction for the past two decades in the region when it comes to English Theatre, he is also the founder member of the North East Writers Forum.

Compelled by his passion for acting, he has also acted in a myriad of TV productions and Assamese Feature Films; Mission China being his latest release. As a former journalist, he was a reporter with “The Telegraph,” “North East File” – News based Program on the Northeast aired on CNN, DD I and DD International. A trained Western Classical fiddle player and music critic, he was also the first correspondent from the Northeastern India for magazines like the Rock Street Journal, The Sun, Rave, Connect and dabbled as a guest vocalist & lyricist for bands in the early 90’s. D'com is also known as a notable theatre and film critic for his immense knowledge on film and theatre as a subject and for his unbiased critical reviews.

With a Masters in Linguistics, he went on to serve at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati as an Assistant Scientist (Languages) RCILTS, Dept. of Computer Science & Engg. Presently, he is working on his creative projects with the “D’ Passion Collective” in Northeast India apart from holding key positions in many leading institutes of the country. He is a mentor at the Royal Global School, an adjunct Faculty at the Royal Global University, a guest lecturer in the field of communications at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and National Institute of Fashion Technology, among many others.

Previously, in 2005, he led an Indian delegation of educators to the South West Asia’s Youth Leadership Programme held in Japan, and was the Youth Ambassador of the country.

In the year 2004, he joined the World Bank Group’s South Asia Communications Team, and has travelled widely across various nations around the globe ranging from United States of America to South Africa.

In 2010, he was selected as the Youth Icon of the country by India Today for his creative contribution towards the arts in the region. He retired towards the end of 2014 after serving The World Bank Group for more than a decade.

Apart from teaching, Bhuyan is currently also engaged in regularly conducting theatre and creative writing workshops for aspiring minds in unleashing their creative potential. He is also a columnist and writes regularly in newspapers and journals. Through his talks, seminar presentations, and creative workshops, Furthermore, D'com has also been instructing on effective communication skills and other related topics in various educational institutions across the country.

She has worked as an Assistant Professor of English at Jain University and St.Joseph’s College teaching communication skills and core literature papers to degree students. Nabina Das is a writer and her poems have appeared in Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Indian Literature, Caravan, Sangam House poetry, The Indian Quarterly, Economic and Political Weekly, Dhaka Tribune, The Yellow Nib Anthology, and Six Seasons Review. She is a 2017 Sahapedia-UNESCO fellow, a 2012 Charles Wallace creative writing alumna (Stirling University, Scotland), and a 2016 Commonwealth Writers feature correspondent. A 2012 Sangam House, a 2011 NYS Summer Writers Institute, and a 2007 Wesleyan Writers Conference creative writing alumna, Nabina writes and translates occasionally in English, Assamese and Bengali, while her poetry has been translated into the Croatian, French, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Urdu. She has been a writer-in-residence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi and is a Creative Writing instructor in classrooms and workshops. An MFA in Poetry from Rutgers University (Camden, NJ), and a Masters in Linguistics from JNU, Nabina has worked in journalism and media for about 10 years, and is the co-editor of 40 under 40.

Darshil Shastri - Counselor

Currently in the consulting field, I've been doing Writing Workshops for over 5 years now, working with Katha and Bal Bhavan. I've been awarded the National Bal Shree Honour, for Creative Writing. I also take Career counselling workshops for students from 9th grade onward. I mainly write poetry, travelogues and short stories. I have my own blog, and often do freelance content work with websites and NGOs. I'm also a quizzer, and work as a quiz-master in my free time.

Merry Baruah - Author, Professor

Associate professor in English, Cotton University, Guwahati, former Visiting Faculty at TISS, Guwahati, Mentor at Katha Regionals (RGU). Published several articles in academic anthologies, authored chapters for both UG and PG text books. Interested in Creative writing and have published translated short fiction in local newspapers, ejournals. Involved with WWF (NE) and has participated as Resource person in Workshops for ESD organised by WWF in collaboration with Government of Assam. Translated resource material for WWF (Manual, Ek Prithvi etc), Ashadeep (a state NGO for diffrerently abled).

Sattyakee D'com Bhuyan - Theatre Director

A Philomath who truly loves the art, Sattyakee D’com Bhuyan is known for his extensive experience in all the areas of Theatre Production. A TedX speaker, he is also the founder director of the leading Theatre Group “D’Passion Collective.” He has, in fact, proven his creative excellence, especially on the stage, since an early age, and with more than 25 stellar productions under his belt. One of the first professional English anchors of the region, he has acted and directed numerous plays and short films. Still one of the youngest in the field of direction for the past two decades in the region when it comes to English Theatre, he is also the founder member of the North East Writers Forum.

Compelled by his passion for acting, he has also acted in a myriad of TV productions and Assamese Feature Films; Mission China being his latest release. As a former journalist, he was a reporter with “The Telegraph,” “North East File” – News based Program on the Northeast aired on CNN, DD I and DD International. A trained Western Classical fiddle player and music critic, he was also the first correspondent from the Northeastern India for magazines like the Rock Street Journal, The Sun, Rave, Connect and dabbled as a guest vocalist & lyricist for bands in the early 90’s. D'com is also known as a notable theatre and film critic for his immense knowledge on film and theatre as a subject and for his unbiased critical reviews.

With a Masters in Linguistics, he went on to serve at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati as an Assistant Scientist (Languages) RCILTS, Dept. of Computer Science & Engg. Presently, he is working on his creative projects with the “D’ Passion Collective” in Northeast India apart from holding key positions in many leading institutes of the country. He is a mentor at the Royal Global School, an adjunct Faculty at the Royal Global University, a guest lecturer in the field of communications at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and National Institute of Fashion Technology, among many others.

Previously, in 2005, he led an Indian delegation of educators to the South West Asia’s Youth Leadership Programme held in Japan, and was the Youth Ambassador of the country.

In the year 2004, he joined the World Bank Group’s South Asia Communications Team, and has travelled widely across various nations around the globe ranging from United States of America to South Africa.

In 2010, he was selected as the Youth Icon of the country by India Today for his creative contribution towards the arts in the region. He retired towards the end of 2014 after serving The World Bank Group for more than a decade.

Apart from teaching, Bhuyan is currently also engaged in regularly conducting theatre and creative writing workshops for aspiring minds in unleashing their creative potential. He is also a columnist and writes regularly in newspapers and journals. Through his talks, seminar presentations, and creative workshops, Furthermore, D'com has also been instructing on effective communication skills and other related topics in various educational institutions across the country.
